Sounds to Astound

Bring your family and join us as we explore waves, resonance, and decibels! Come hear sound in space, see flames dance, and experience an exploding balloon. Stick around afterward for a tour of BYU's anechoic chamber.

Demo Show Information

Sounds to Astound is a free, interactive demonstration show that explores the science of sound. We hope you can join us for this journey through the intersection of sound and physics.

Tours of BYU's world-class anechoic chamber and reverberation chamber are offered before and after each show. Reservations are limited to parties of ten or fewer (please contact us for additional accommodations).

Shows are located in room C215 of the Eyring Science Center on BYU campus. Shows are offered free of charge. Please demonstrate courtesy to our volunteer presenters by arriving at the show 5-10 minutes early.

Campus maps, including information about parking, can be found at the BYU Maps website.

The demonstration shows are sponsored by the BYU Student Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America, the BYU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
